i have an 07 street bob and looking to beef up the sound without putting on a whole new exaust system, probably just slip ons. im looking for advice on best sound at a reasonable price.
The vance and hines slipons are awesome..of course, with the 07s, they aren't like the older systems where you could just change the settings. When you get a more free flowing exhaust, you need to get more air in also with another air cleaner eg K&N, screaming eagle setup. THEN, you need to get your ECM 'flashed' or get a PCIII or SERT or V&H fuelpak.Hopping up your exhaust isn't as cheap or uncomplicated as before. Figures......
The stock pipes SUCK, the screaming eagles aren't that much better than stock. They were better in 05 -06...but the newer ones had to go back to the restricted EPA regs. There's a lot of info on the forum on making your bike sound better
I just bought some Khromewerks slip-on's for my '07 FXDL and they have a GREAT deep low throaty sound (IMHO). Not too loud at idle or cruising, but really wake up when you roll on the throttle.
Rush makes some really nice slip-on's. you can pick them up for around $250. Very deep rumbling sound, not so load that you nead ear plugs, 100% street legal too.... I have had more compliments on my scoot since I changed over to these pipes......by far the best mod I've done so far
