Anybody ever dump in oil? I was riding to work today on the same roads I always go down. It was dark and a little wet, all packed up for a 450 mile trip when I get off work. Slowed to approach a stop sign and all of a sudden my bars wobble and I'm on the ground. I turn around and a guy riding a sport bike behind me dumped too, said it must have been a slick we hit. Wild and never happened to me before. Now I'm nervous about the trip. Still planning on going, but I just want to make sure things are safe. Maybe my tire pressure was low up front? I've ridden plenty in rainy, wetter weather and this never happened.
could have been diesel fuel. that stuff is slicket than snot. glad you're okay. that's why I hate riding at night. can't see stuff till you're right up on it. Take care and enjoy your trip.
When I first read your title, I was thinking because she asked you to. : )
We only stay upright on our bikes because of the friction between our tires and the road. If you do not have that friction, you were going to go down. I would not let that stress you out about going out on a trip. That could’ve happened to any of us, whether you are a new rider or an old one.

Wet roads and oil. Especially right after it starts raining; the oil floats on the water before it gets washed away. Had it happen once in a sweeping curve on the highway. I didn't go down, but I sure thought I was going to.
If you were braking for a stop, your back wheel (or even the front) could have locked up without you even realizing it.
You said a little wet, that is usually when the road and oil are the slickest! I wouldn't worry about it, like others have said it could happen to anyone! Glad you're ok and were going slow. Don't let it ruin the trip! Many bikers go down at one point of another but there's a stigma and many won't talk about it. I went down on a road i frequently travel.
Stay to one side of the center of the lane at stop lights and signs. I stay in the (you could call it the tire grove) just for that reason. If you look when its dry you can tell where all of the oil is and get the idea. I have slipped a few times even when dry so I have oil resistant soles on my boots. I know that wouldn't have helped you this time but just an FYI.
something is slicker than all get out on that road, esp if a truck is doing 360s in light wet roads. Glad youre ok and Im sure after you set out on your trip, it'll be long behind your mind
