How many miles do you put on your tires? My '04 has 7,000 miles on it, but the tires still look great. The HD dealer doesn't think I need to replace them, but I'm getting ready for the run to Sturgis (over 2,500 miles round trip) and don't want to take a chance.

ad2 - I'd check with a tread gauge to be sure.

I had just over 7000 on the stock rear tire of my '06 Street Bob when I replaced it. It passed inspection on a tread gauge - just barely. I'm sure I could've rode the rest of the season and gotten a few more thou out of it. In fact, I wouldn't have bothered replacing it at all if I was riding locally. But like you I have some trips planned this summer.

FWIW the front tire is still original with a lot of tread life. Most of my friends tell me they average 2 back tires to one front tire.
