Ok so I am Vertically challenged, I need to get this beast lowered about 2in. Any suggestions on the best move?
I am also finding it a challenge to find Floor boards for it, I have passenger floorboards but I cant find mine. Does HD even make them for the Dyna family?
You can lower the rear by changing the shocks. You can lower the front with HD's lower fork spring kit. The kit also includesshortened kickstand.
If you are using the stock seat, then changing the seat to a narrower seat will get your feet closer to the ground.
As far as boards go, HD did make a kit for the dynas. The kit fit up to 2003 dynas. They discontinued the kit.
It's the same kit that came stock on the FXDP. Let me know if you need the kit #.
You can call dealers to see if they still have it in stock but it will be difficult to locate one. It will cost you $700-$800 from the dealer (ouch).
The kit includes the boards, new shift linkages, heel-toe shifterand new brake pedal. Easy to install. takes about 2 hours.
If you want more pics of the HD boards on my 03 then PM me with your email address.
I found mine on ebay. The kits do show up every so often.
I snagged mine for about $350. They werepristine.
I have seen them go between $250-$600 on ebay depending if they're new/used and what the condition is.
I have to admit they are as comfortable as hell.
So check ebay and be patient. Search ebay for footboards dyna, floorboards dyna, floor boards, harley police dyna, and also try FXDP.
If you want to see the kit then check ebay item #150120440731.
There are some aftermarket universal fit boards. They look good but your stock brake pedal remains in place and will be to the left of the board, whereas the HD kit includes a new brake pedal that is located in front of the booard. Also some of the aftermarket boards stick out further than the HD kit. Just a matter of riding preference and $$$$.
Thank you VERY much spark, I will keep a look out. My buddy told me before I got the darn thing that NOTHING is cheap for this guy. I don't mind though, Thanks for the info!
check with the various aftermarket suppliers out there, i.e. j&p cycles, v-twin. drag specialties. the susspension parts might be a tad cheaper, invest in a "badlander" style seat (not cheap) that will shave off almost 1.5 inches. once that's done then look for the floor boards. welcome to the forum and enjoy the ride.
