Just looking for opinions on what the best intake upgrade there is. I still have the stock intake and want to upgrade I have SE II slip ons no baffles and stage one download any info would be helpfull.
For the money, the Stage 1 from HD is hard to beat as long as you get the K&N filter in it. It will support up to 100 HP/TQ without a problem. Then there's always the zippers upgrade for it also that gives you a 1" taller filter and will support a much higher HP/TQ figure. And put those baffles back in too.
The K&N will due then is there only one K&N part # for that do you know I see that JP has one thats listed at $75 thats oilable (is that even a word) but i think you understand. I'M not looking for any major upgrades untill after warrantee is up but I want to be ready for any additional upgrades.
The Screaming Eagle from HD is very good as long as you get the K&N filter element with the kit. The new Screamin Eagles have the paper filter that is no good, so you are going to have to look for an old kit, or replace the paper filter with a K&N element which will cost you an extra 50.00 or so.
Another option is to go with the Arlen Ness Big Sucker air cleaner kit. It will flow as much air as the Screamin Eagle, and it comes with the K&N element. I think the price on both of them are about the same.
I have the Ness Big Sucker. I love it. It was an easy install and yes it was about the same $ as the HD model. I do have to maintain the cleaner with cleaner and oil, but I believe you need to do that with all the good ones.
Anyone have a pic of the big sucker i cant find one for an 04 dyna by doing a google search so if you can tell me where you got yours I would appreciate it and can I leave the stock air cleaner cover on the bike I like it?
The Big Sucker looks almost like a SE, and it will use the stock cover. My local HD shop stocks them. If you look on the Arlen Ness web page you will find the Big Sucker. You kinda have to navigate around and get in the intake section if I remember correctly.
