Default Riser bushings

I have a 2009 Low Rider with the 4” high pulled back risers. I just put on 10” mini ape hangers. The bars rock forward and backward a bit, definitely more than with the stock buckhorn handlebars but I don’t know what is within design tolerances. Is it normal and/or required to put new and/or stronger bushings under the risers when you put ape hangers on?
Thanks in advance for all good info.

Yes it’s usually recommended but overlooked. Upgrade to poly or if you want rock solid bars go to solids. Slight vibration will be felt with solids but it’s bearable to me for the feel of steady bars

If they aren’t too expensive, I’ll get both poly and solid. Just want to buy the best.

Red face

I’ve only been riding 1-1/2 years so not an expert yet on where to shop. I’ve bought from Harley, J&P, Dennis Kirk, mostly. Is there a vendor I can get both Merchant and Arlen Ness from or just google them separately and order from whatever seller comes up? Is that Speed Merchant?

Solid bushings are dead simple. As long as they fit, they all work the same. I think mine are LA Choppers. Maybe Alloy Art.

My stock mini apes and stock bushings rocked around like crazy. Not alarming but far from a firm feel. I like the solids a lot better.

Don't have any experience with poly riser bushings. Just Energy and Prothane stuff for cars.

HD poly bushings. High quality. Killed off any flex I had after I installed my 14s. They are also a perfect fit. After market sometimes is hit and miss.

Hey Mark, when you run out of road on the island, do you take the tunnel under the channel and ride around mainland Europe? I'm curious. I think I'd need more space than just the island even if it is about 500 miles north to south and couple hundred wide or more at some points. If you've ridden the "chunnel" what's that like and how much time does it take to cross? Curious if it's just too loud or bad air or any fun at all. Don't know if there's lots of traffic all the time, etc.
