I didn't realize Harley's were sold in Russia! Cool!!! Welcome to the forum and Harley family!
Thanx a lot! I ride my harleys since 2003. I have been first russian rode Harley in Africa last year. And yes there are HD official stealers in Moscow and in my city - St.-Peterburg. I do design and build together with my bro HD as hobby. Unfortunatly most of parts I should buy from States through eBay. Thats why its important to get info before purchase.
So PLEASE Back to this Tach+ thing !
This thread hits the spot for me. I have been debating between a Night Train and a Fat Bob for months. Yes months. I rode a fatty for about 4 hours this summer...it had forward controls. Did not like them. My feet kept wanting to slide off the sides of the pegs at highway speeds. My inner thighs hurt from pressure on the side of the seat. I had the same kind of test ride (4 hours) on a train. None of these comfort issues. Handling sucked. The softail is much easier to find mods for. But that FatBob kept calling me back. That's it. A pewter denim Fatty with mid mounts! Tomorrow the deposit is going down. Thanks for writing in you guys!

You can always add forward highway pegs and have the best of both worlds. When I bought my Fat Bob (new used) the forward control conversion was already on it. Cost the original owner over $600 to have it installed. (poor guy couldn't aford to keep the bike which is why it's now mine) If i had bought it stock from the dealer I would have gotten mids with forward highway pegs to have the best of both worlds. I have the original mid controls but I have no intention to pay hundreds to have it put back. I actually may look into the possibility of adding MID highway pegs ... I wonder if it can be done?
Wood Butcher, OK I concur that tach is bitchen. Anyway you can post a pic? Also, I was on the night train gig before I saw the fat bob in april. Glad I went down the same path you did. Just me but, the night train was wicked uncomfortable. I'm runnin my fatbob stock. Do you have any fuel management? Stage 1 is just overwhelming with choices. Still researching power commander and sert. Think I'm gonna talk to Dr. Dyno about it
Hey Fat Bill, I completely agree about the Night Train. Love the look though. I currently don't have any mods on. Just foot pegs, hand grips , black levers and a few chrome goodies. I'm kinda waiting and letting the aftermarket and HD catch up to the bike. Like the rush mufflers but can't quite decide on the baffle size. Heard the Khrome Werks slip-ons the other day and I think I might get them but not sure. Either way I'm in no hurry. I'll probably end up with a stage 1, slip-ons, factory download and leave it like that. Good enough for me. I'll put some pics of the Micro Tach on here. Cick on the images to enlarge them. Tell me if you like it.

Is it possible for the person "technically" handicapped like I am to do it by myself? Or I should go to official stealer to install Tach+ to keep garantee on?
I'll tell you what. If I can do it, you can do it. Just disconnect the battery, unscrew the console, disconnect the bib from the console being careful not to lose the clips that hold the cover on, role the console over to expose the wiring and follow the instructions. You'll **** when you see how easy it is. You don't have to cut anything to expose the wires. Just unwrap two of the small pieces of tape that are around the wiring harness and you will expose enough of the wiring to do the job. Have at it big guy and let us know how it went. Here's a couple of pictures to show you what it looks like.

Hello to all,
38 year HD cycle veteran, took delivery of 09 FXDFSE Fat Boy yesterday. Super, great bike with one very disappointing problem; exhaust heat from perforated pipe burning up knee to upper thigh. Here it is, 6 hours later, and my thigh feels like a torch scorched it. In any event, would very much appreciate suggestions on best replacement pipes with great sound, re-routing, and best insulation for heat containment.

Thank you in advance.
Do you have mid or forward controls? I have forwards on mine and have not experiencedthe heat problem you describe.
