Hi buddy, did you get a chance to take a photo of your external breather set up or are you still at sea? Many thanks.

I have a fairly stock 1992 FXDC. Just about to take it off SORN as I have had some re-commissioning work done at Harley dealer. Not convinced they were that rare in 1992 though obviously 30 years later ……..
I bought it new in 1992.

I know this is an old thread, but can someone post a pic of one of these bikes with the silver frame? I'd love to see it.

Its not mine but is from this page. It is a very cool look although i read somewhere that these frames were actually weaker somehow than the black ones...would need to confirm that

I think they were called Grey Ghost

I like it, very cool looking and not something you see everyday. But I cant see why they would be weaker. I mean it's the same frame just a different shade of powder coat or paint, right?

Hey Bubba, you're right, I found the information i had in the back of my head which says

"It is indeed an FXDC, as I have a model similar to it in the FXDBD Daytona version, which is essentially identical, except for the paint scheme. You have a later version, as the original ones had a silver painted frame, which proved defective and HD later switched to a different paint that bonded better to the metal. The silver painted oneswere famous for chipping and peeling frame paint. The '92s were made during a strike year at H-D, so many folks will tell you they are "sabotaged" but that's b.s. in my book. Like others have said, change the oil regularly, keep it clean and you will be fine."

So basically the defect was simply the paint not the frame. This is the thread with more info which I read when i first bought my 1992 FXDC.

92 were produced with silver frames
Hello there, I was told that there were very few of the silver framed models ( I own 1 of them) , but was not aware that only 92 were produced....Is this a correct statement?
Thank you
