I'm looking for a modest upgrade to the stock rear shocks on my FXDBP. The wife is riding with me now and I would like a better shock for 2-up travels. I'm not looking to break the bank here. She is 5'-4" and 120lbs. We live in the twisties so I want something a little better than stock. Any recommendations?
Check out DK Customs website...they list some middle of the road priced shocks they give above average results...racing
brothers, race Tec, there are a few others...search this section of this forum, lots of files about rear shocks...
I am happy with progressive 444's, went from 12"stock to 12.5" 444's. not the best out there but a great improvement over stock and will not break the bank.

I settled on FXDLS Emulsion Shocks for the time being - I picked up a used set for around $150. They'll suffice until I can afford to play with big ballas hahaha
I would assume a minimum of $550 or so. For me, this is the starting point cost of decent shocks. At this price point, one of the best options are the Bitubo shocks that DK Customs sells. Has preload and damping adjustment and are sprung for your weight/riding style. The Progressive 444's are a little bet more expensive than this and have a generic spring and preload adjustment only. I got my wife a set of the Bitubos for her Switchback. For myself, I also have a Switchback, but have Hagon Nitro's. Both of these shocks have preload and damping adjustment and we went with 13" length (stock length is 12"). The Hagons, while still a good shock, have gone up in price from when I got them in 2014 or so and I believe are now over $600.
If this is too pricey for you, then consider used HD emulsions, Progressive 412's or Hagon 2812's. Will be better than stock, but very limited in adjustment and quality of ride will be better, but not great.
