Searched and didn't find too much useful information on this.....
Just purchased a 16 FXDL and I'm looking to add the scorpio Srx900 with proximity and ignition kill modules. My thought here is I can lock the forks and leave the ignition unlocked much like the factory HD security system works. If anyone gets too close to the bike without the remote it should just kill power to the fuel pump and prevent starting......at least that's how scorpio tech support explained it to me.
My question is has anyone installed one with any success and if so what does the ignition kill module wire into? How difficult is it to get at?
That's the kind of question you want to ask before you spend money on it. Judging by the lack of responses it's not that common a mod. Didn't it come with instructions?
I haven't spent the money yet. I just got the bike 2 days ago and I'm exploring options. I considered the factory security system and the siren 2 but the dealer quoted me 1000 installed and it didn't seem as inclusive as the scorpio system.
I have one. Scorpio is great. Mine doesn't have the screen on the fob but I believe it works the same way. For about $20 you can buy the plug to make it plug and play. The only wire I had to connect manually is the one going to the ignition and the power. .everything else will plug in to the plug under the seat. I believe this is the best value for an alarm. They are great units.
The alarm does not do anything until a sensor is tripped. Once that happens it looks for the fob. If it "sees" it then it will chirp once to let you know everything is cool. If it doesn't, it will kill the ignition and scream bloody murder. When you get off the bike it will chirp 4 times to let you know it has re-armed. Mine doesn't do anything to the fuel pump. just the ignition.

...
I don't know the details of the Scorpio system but most security systems work similarly. If that is how the Scorpio tech described it he should read up on how these alarms work because that is not accurate.
The bike cannot detect people, it detects the remote, aka FOB, and its "proximity" to the bike.
If the FOB is in proximity of the bike, the bike will start. If the FOB is NOT in proximity of the bike, the bike will NOT start. It doesn't matter if anyone is actually holding the FOB. If you accidentally drop the FOB next to the bike and leave, someone else can start your bike and ride off because the FOB was in proximity of the bike.
These security systems also detect bike motion.
If the FOB is in proximity of the bike and the bike is moved, nothing happens. If the FOB is NOT in proximity of the bike and the bike is moved the alarm is activated. If there is a siren then it will sound. It doesn't matter if anyone is actually holding the FOB. If you accidentally drop the FOB next to the bike and leave, someone else can move your bike and nothing will happen because the FOB was in proximity of the bike.

Any tips on placement on a FXDL and where did you tap into the ignition wire? I haven't been able to come across any good wiring diagrams. I'm just assuming there should be a wire near the ign/acc switch which is on the side of the motor on the fxdl.
