Have a few winter projects in the works, one of which is a rear suspension upgrade. I've always leaned towards Ohlins because I love the black-line look and I've ridden several bikes with Ohlins on them and I was impressed to say the least. However, recently I've been noticing a lot of people using Legend Suspension (especially on social media) with nothing but good things to say. I've even seen a lot of people claim they like them more than their Ohlins setup. After doing some digging it seems like the majority of people using Legend Suspension that I've seen, are actually sponsored by them, which leads me to believe they may be a bit bias.
So the question to everyone, cost not being an issue, which is the way to go? and Why? I know there are other options out there, but these are the two brands I've really been looking at.
Ohlins wins at the podium , havent seen Legends ever at the podium spot. Nonetheless, I'm sure they are good suspension. Ohlins is the gold standard, theres a reason they are on so many superbikes.
Been riding for 50 years and never had shocks better than Ohlins. To be fair, I've never tried the Legends so I can't compare. If you talk to Howard at Motorcycle Metal he can help you set up the shocks for the uses and conditions that are your style of riding.
Recently listened to an interview with Kevin from Big Bear Choppers about suspension and he sold me on Ohlins. It'll be a while before I have that kind of coin to put into my suspension, but when the times comes that's the way I'm going.
If you're interested in listening to it it was on the Fast Life Garage Podcast.
If cost is not an issue, then give Howard a call at Motorcycle Metal, order a set of Ohlin shocks made for your riding style, and start to get ready to upgrade the front. Having the shocks valved for you is the other equation, and Howard can do that for you.
