Default Shut off while riding

Took my 09 low rider for a ride today and about 4 miles into the ride it just shut down. I hit the start button and nothing at all. Cycled the run switch and could hear the fuel pump running to prime. Cycled the ignition key off and back on and she fired right up. I haven't checked yet to see if maybe it threw a code but I plan on it. I'd hate to get 100 miles from home and have this happen and not fire back up. Any ideas what may have caused this.

Sounds like a lose battery cable or ground connection.

Sure does. Anyway that's the first place to look. After that, the ignition switch is one of the usual suspects.

Thanks for the replies. That's my plan to check battery cables and grounds. I hate the spot the put the ignition on a dyna. Pisses me off when I put the key in only to have it fall out before I get a chance to put it in the run position. I would love to relocate it.

All depends on model and yr...my 98 was behind my leg, which I hated at first but got use to it in no time, on my 12 FXDC it’s right on the dash of the tank....

+1 for battery cables. Had the same thing happen on a trip a few weeks back 1000 km from home. Was thankful it was a loose battery cable.

There is a module on the bike that measures lean and will kill the engine if it passes a certain number of degrees, in another words, tipped over. The bolt mounting it comes loose, the module shakes and loses it's position and kills the engine.

That's what I had on my '01 FLSTF so I'd think that Dyna's have the same.

Had same issue with my 2000 WG, turned out to be the crank position sensor.

I believe it’s in your TSSM which also control your turn signals....

there is a procedure for resetting it, just can’t remember how.
