my brother recently did a 450 mile ride on his 04 Dyna low rider. Bike has 31k miles. When we were just about home we realized the motor was making a knocking noise. I’ll attach a video. Anyone have any ideas?
Where exactly is the knocking noise coming from? The primary would be usually a compensator or too much slack in the chain. The motor itself could be low on oil and getting piston slap. If its the stock chain tensioners then they should be gone through ASAP.
I just replace the compensator on my 05 dyna. It started making a knocking noise at idle that would go away with rpm's. The spring pack looked permanently compressed. The motor also has a lot of rocking at idle.
Runs smooth now and feels like its turning more freely now.
36k miles. One day it was fine next day had the knock.
