My fxdls came stock with it. It's worth its weight in gold on the freeway. Never would have put one on myself but after having it, I'm sure all my future bikes will.
I put a mechanical cruise on mine. https://brakeawayproducts.com/produc...rley-davidson/ It works and holds the throttle position with a little tuning. It releases with the brake lever or a button but since it is mechanical it doesn't hold speed on hills like an electronic one does.
I have the BrakeAway on my 2016 WG. It works great but you might need to relocate your turn signals if they are like a 2016 (covers the brake lever pin).
I made my own bracket so I didnt have to (sandwiches under the turn signal mount over to the mirror post).
Bent the first one out of sheet metal but it was too flimsy. Transferred the shape to aluminum L stock, way better.
Its nice not to mess with the thumb wheel which never worked that well anyway.

If you add a small aluminum arm to the star, it works great and easy. I got mine at a local rally for less than $20, and that included the star bolt to fit a metric (since I had a Honda at the time). Price I think has gone up a bit, but you can still get them for less than $30, usually about $25.
Here's one of the arms: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Throttle-Lo...t/123004696675
Of course, you could always use something like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Nep-Cruise-...P/192169069255
I'll add with the Brake Away cruise they say in the instructions to cut about 1/2 to 1 inch off the end of the bar so that the throttle grip sits in the same spot, just the switches, mirror, and brake lever move inward a half inch to make room for the cruise housing. I skipped that as I liked where my mirror was so I put an Arlen Ness throttle bearing on the end of the bar so that it takes up that space that the grip moves outward and prevents the throttle from dragging. https://www.jpcycles.com/product/500...0aArhSEALw_wcB It looks like you have the room to move the switch and brake housing inward but I suggest the bearing if you don't want to move them as the throttle will bind slightly with the added cruise and dragging on the end of the bar without the bearing.
