Hi, I just purchaced a 1999 dyna fxd superglide, The wife and i went for a ride , she complained about the seat not being comfotable. Yes i should have bought a touring model !!! I need to find a wider and more comfortable seat for her, The comment about her butt did not go over well !!i need some help ... thanks
It's more money, but the Mustang Wide Touring seat or something like that is the most comfortable seat I have seen. I have compared them to the Sundowner, and the Sundowner is much better than stock, but the Mustang is better. www.mustangseats.com
I can not stess enough this fact. Different seats for different butts . make sure you can return a seat you buy before you buy one with no restocking fee . Example , i bought a mustang seat direct from mustang, good thing i did cause i hated it. mustang gives you a 10 day try it .
if not for the sundowner i would have sold my dyna.
My wife and I did not like the stock seat either. Had to stop at least every hour or less. I put a Sundowner on and that was a major improvement. My wife is still not as comfortable as me. When 2-up we have to stop about every hour and a half. Solo, I can go til I need gas. My wife rode the back of an EG recently and now she wants us to trade the Dyna for an EG.
I asked the same questions jut before I got my FXDC. I had the Mustang Regal Wide Touring Seat on a Honda Magna. The wife loved it, I was fine with it, but the "pillow look" really wasn't what I was after for the Super Glide. Plus, Mustang seats are pricy - not that they aren't worth it (don't want to start a flame war).
At $269.00 the Sundowner is cheaper, has similar dimensions, about an inch narrower for the passenger and doesn't have little buttons to collect rainwater :-P
I got the Sundowner and the wife is fine with it. My only complaint is that the back part of the rider seat is rather thick. At first, I felt like I was pushed up all the way to the gas tank. But, that allowed me to start thinking about forward controls or highway pegs.... that, is a different conversation.
turkeyrun, I am with you on the Sundowner. I am looking at going to forwards as well now.
I find the Sundowner very comfortable for me, and our selection of brands out here is very limited, so I got mine off USA Ebay.
