Seriously, you can`t be thinking that will come out good without teardown...Look at the fasteners, even with new paint this powertrain will look like ****.
Give us some details, such as mileage, model bike, year?
What are you planning to do with this powertrain?

Even if you were able to strip off all the old paint there's lots of corrosion that will show through when painted. Needs to be torn down and blasted to get all those surfaces cleaned up. I'd also want to know what it looks like inside based on how the outside has deteriorated. Wouldn't you?

Lol yea I do think it will come out nice I'm going to paint it with texture paint after striping and I'm not asking opinions. I know what I want to do.I'm just asking if it will mess up any of the seals or gaskets. I'm not rich if I was I'd just take it and have it done by a Professional. It's a 95 dyna convertible that I'm painting. And Puting back together on a budget.

It's not deteriorating its flaking off. The I side is in great shape it was opened up about a year and a half ago. It runs great just ugly as heck. I'm painting the tank and fenders so I thought paint the engine as well for now. It will be tore down and done properly after my street glide is paid off.
Just scrape any loose edges and fine wire brush it to feather. Wash it with soap and water. Cover areas with newspaper and hit it with flat black. Then take a folded strip of 100 Silicon Carbide or Emory cloth and flat sand the edges to remove the paint. It will look plenty good with little fuss. Make you some circle templates and hit all fasteners with flat silver aluminum. About a two-hour job for $15 bucks.

X2. If this is budget, DO NOT use paint stripper. You can get the wrinkle black finish paint. When you have the funds, the motor can be stripped down and the pieces then can be properly prepped and painted.
