As a clarification why you shouldn't use paint stripper: You will not be able to get it completely removed from an assembled motor. When you paint over it, it will attack the new paint and you will end up with bubbling paint.
To use paint stripper effectively, you need to have a pan filled with it and the parts soaking in it. You need to rotate the pieces and have a brush to remove the gunk as the stripper is working. It makes a mess.
