Default Engine paint

Hi!

I've sandblasted my engine. Old paint was pealing off. I've put on the first stroke of new paint, but it seems I've bought glossy paint. Wasn't really the plan.. I know this is a subjective question, but will it look good? Can it work? I was going for the matt finish, but I really don't want the hassle of blasting down AGAIN...

Another thing I'm not quite sure of is the temperature tolerance. It's 150°C (~300 in Fahrenheit). Will that do? Not sure I trust the guy in the paint store..

Thanks for any feedback!

You need to use proper heat resistant engine paint,if you have it should be ok, I would think if you want a Matt finish you could just paint over the gloss. Welcome to the forum.

What color are you going with? If you are going black (like the factory) Harley actually sells the paint they use. I bought it to touch up my evo and it works perfect and goes on great. I noticed you are in Norway so not sure how easy you can get it but if you have access to a dealer they should be able to hook you up.

First choice,VHT engine paint.
I have had good results with Duplicolor also.
Paint over it with the same brand paint, should be ok.
Semi gloss is best, any oil on flat will make it shine.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I've been reading up a bit and it would seem that painting over isn't such a good idea. The paint needs to be in the neighborhood of VHT, as Pistonman1 points out. My 150 Celcius paint will make the VHT paint bobble. It needs to come off. All of it.. Great.. FML.

Well, this time I'm not doing it myself.

The VHT Wrinkle paint is a good match to the factory HD powder coat, BUT, it has to be baked on in the oven or it will just peel right off.

How hot does it need to be? I don't have an oven that large.. Can I put some lamps around it and maybe like an open air oven. Like an electric grill type thing. Will something like that do? Maybe I should leave this to the professionals.
