For a long time I've been hearing a noise coming from under the bike, sounding like metal to metal whenever I pass a hole or defect in the street. The two motor mount were changed less than 2k miles. I already squeezed the tank and everything that was possible to stop the noise, does anyone have any tips or suggestions? Thank you very much in advance.FXD 08.
It took me months to find a funny metal onmetal squeak/chirp noise on my bike.
I would only do it riding down my dirt road of a morning and once I was on the highway and the bike was nice and warm it stopped.
It ended up being a broken heat shield clamp. The heat shield was still secured in 2 of the 3 places so it was only the middle mount that had come loose.
Is it a clunking noise? I had one that took a while to track down, the rubber bumper for the kickstand was pushed out of the way by my jack. Every time I hit a decent bump the stand would smack the frame.
If you have mid controls the clearance between the exhaust and the bracket of the right foot peg is pretty tight...
(Mine does something similar. After I replaced the mounts it got a lot better, so I sort of ignore it now when it does happen.
I don't use heat shields, neither is footpeg. I'm thinking of stopping her and retightening everything possible. Before changing the engine mounts I had a lot of noise, but I knew it was theirs. Or stop when something falls. I will try to record a video.
