I read on another forum a member installed a wide glide backrest on his street bob and it worked . Doesn't the wide glide have a wider rear fender also ? Are the mounting holes the same distance on both of them ?
Fat Bob and Wide Glide share the wider part yeah. Someone might have made it work as it is very minimally wider, maybe a spacer or something, but I would get the proper one. As small as a difference as it is, I think even the pad for the bar is a different part. Only the third and final part of it all, the side pieces that you actually use to mount it to the bike, are the same, that's it.
The reason I'm asking is I can get the backrest luggage rack and sundowner seat for $150 . That's alot cheaper than buying it at the harley shop.
That Sundowner seat ALONE is worth MORE than that much! That's a great deal!! I'd probably get it anyway, and if the backrest doesn't fit, you can see about trading it to someone or selling it.

+1 buy the seat and sell the backrest to fund the right backrest
you may be able to squeeze the back rest between the struts and fender but risk scratching the paint (been there done that)... but like mentioned above, buy the set, and sell the back rest, win-win.. funny, im in the same boat looking for the same accessories
