I'm always reading about Progressive 412 shocks and I'm wondering what the difference is between them and say....a 440? The 440s are about 3 times as much.
Looking to get either a Lowrider or Streetbob and want to lower it as much as possible (I'm 5'4"). I'm looking at a Lowrider on ebay that has 11.5 inch 440s and it's WAY low judging by the distance from the top of the back rim to the bottom of the fender. I know 440s only go down to 11.5.
I've heard a lot of people mention 412 11 inch shock in this section.
Besides price, what's the main difference between the 412s (418s?) and 440s?
I would imagine the 440s ride better but wonder if it's worth the price difference.
Thanks for your help.
I have progressive 440's, outstanding. Best way I can describe them is that you can't tell they are working. I guess that's the IAS which is supposed to separate wheel movement from chassis movement, anyway, rear stays planted no matter what the road conditions. You can get them for a little more than 400 a pair if you shop around. Plus they are very easy to fine tune, hold the spring and turn top up or down, no need for a spanner. Peace
