Lol, when I had originally looked at your Location I read it as "Central Illinois for now" so my Napa link was based on that instead of Indiana. No big deal, but I sure wouldn't have said to click "Check Nearby Stores"
fxdup, so you are either in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, or Texas. Even though when I googled redneck riviera it came up with a BBQ restaurant in Nashville. I guess that's a little too far to stop over once a week or so to wrench on a Harley here.
multihdrdr, I didn't click the link. I checked about 6 area napa stores and none answered the phone so I went to the closest Autozone and they had one 40 amp fuse left. Got it.
A good example of how things have gone for the last 2 years with this bike is yesterday while I was changing the IAC because I was hoping that would fix most if not all of the problems so I could ride this weekend and because I don't know when my mechanic can get to it, that is how I found out the $320 top link was broken. I had never changed an IAC or anything esle on a Harley throttle body so I was learnin if I could handle it. My appreciation of accomplishing something new was offset by finding something else broken and defective. So before starting I took out the 40 amp fuse instead of disconnecting the battery because it is easier to do. That is when I saw the corrosion through the orange plastic and decided I needed a new fuse. When I was done installing IAC and doing the unplanned extra work of removing the broken pieces of the $320 top link without completely removing the gas tank because I just didn't want the added stress of doing that project, when I was done and went to re-install the 40 amp fuse the block it goes into just pushed out the back of the electrical caddy. So I got to figure that out too and apparently it didn't lock back into place because when I was installing the new fuse in the Autozone parking lot the same thing happened but I was able to burn my hand reaching between the hot primary cover to hold the block in back of the electrical caddy/fuse box while I fully installed the new fuse so I could ride my shitty-running bike home. Fun.
fxdx1985, yeah but will they pay for the repairs to my gas tank and if my mechanic finds wiring or other damage from broken pieces of the link that look like they may have pinched wiring harness between link and frame spine. The left piece of the link has definitely been beating on my gas tank and has the paint on it to prove it. If I don’t get it fixed it will rust. I talked to their rep and they want me to send them the pieces which I will and they said they would then replace it but I had to buy one to get it on the bike sooner so I have to see if the have something else for $320 that I want or if they will give me my money. Also I have to wait until they see the parts for them to decide if I have to tell my former mechanic that he did the install wrong and fight for compensation for damages or eat the cost because I can’t afford to fight them in court. Nobody wants to be fair or do the right thing anymore in this country.
