Default Top stabilizer link

Is this oem top stabilizer link(16258-95C) a bad design or is it just me? How can I adjust it without unbolting the heim joint? Jeez!

The link should be adjustable without unbolting anything like this type taking from Sputhe right?

Anybody know or recommend an inexpensive similar link like the one from sputhe? I could just keep using the oem, but the "adjustable" crap just grind my gears... If Im taking out one bolt then I could just replace the whole link.

Gold! Im in the prosess of aligning the engine right now and when I saw the top stabilizer I was thinking wtf... that type could never be accurate because it can only rotate 180 degrees per adjustment and you will have to unbolt one of the bolt also

Like you I was thinking on making one my self, but then it should be something strong enough for engines. How is your link holding up? Im also running sputhes

You can also order the top link from Sputhe.

Couldn’t find it on their website. Maybe I could just make one myself

I listed all the parts that were recommended in the various threads in my post here.

I didn't end up using it last year because the threaded part of the rod ends are too long and they touch in the middle of the turnbuckle thing, so I can't shorten it enough. I believe someone mentioned that they would have to be trimmed. The frame/engine alignment ended up being bang on how it was so I just re-used the OEM one for now.

I didn't have any problems with any of the suppliers linked in the post and as I remember it everything came rather quickly, considering some of it crossed the border.

Thanks!

To be honest, I was expecting it to be cheaper. It’s not like it’s designed(like their stabilizers) and manufactured in house, just parts that they "assembled" and wrapped. And heck, they didn’t needed to assemble them anyways haha. Shipping probably more expensive since it needs to be shipped overseas. I’ll find a way!

thanks! That one is the same one F86 linked to as well. Very good priced but shipping cost the same as the link... smh

My original "new" top link was absolutely fine functionally (the one others and myself have posted links to), but the ends were kinda cheap. They were stainless and they definitely did the job, but they got squeaky and clunky easily and had to be lubed a fair amount. Really not a big deal, but I ended up upgrading the ends with a nicer set, I think from Midwest Controls (or maybe McMaster Carr, I can't remember). I like the turnbuckle that came with the SBC unit though, as the flats are nice and wide, making them pretty easy to reach from different angles with an open end wrench. It would really bug me if the wrench kept slipping off while doing an alignment. But even with nice ends, they should be lubed periodically. I've had good, long-lasting results using chain spray wax. The wax doesn't drip and make a mess the way some oils would.
