Hey all,
I recently just bought a set of Elite Moto Tech Levers. I noticed when installing the new clutch lever , it does not come into contact with the rubber button? Ive done some research on this button and from what I can gather its in indicator so you can start your bike in gear? I was hoping someone could give me some more info on this, are there any cons to the set up and whether or not I should return these for levers that actually work? I emailed the company prior to buying and they said they would fit no problem. Any information/ advice would be appreciated.
Yeah it's the clutch safety switch. It gives the computer the ok to start the bike when engaged because it knows the clutch is disengaged. Otherwise you have to start the bike in neutral
Thanks for the reply! Funny enough I actually just found a bunch of forums about this. Think ill leave it as is for now. I usually start my bike in neutral anyhow. Thanks again!
The only trouble with that is if the bike dies while riding or at a light, then you have to shift into neutral before you can get it started again. Sometimes, getting into neutral can be a PITA, so might end up with people behind you mad and honking at you. Very frustrating! Don't ask me how I know.
