Default Headlight trim ring

WTF are you supposed to use to hold that little nut on the headlight trim ring? I tried using my smallest crescent wrench since a socket won't fit, but I still can't get a good bite on it!

I hold the nut in place with my thumb and start the screw, once the screw starts to thread the nut stayed in place against the trim ring while I screwed the screw. If that doesn’t work for you a pair of needle nose vice-grips would likely work.

Poster above me nailed it. You don't use a tool on that nut. Just hold it with your thumb and start the screw on the other side and it will catch and hold

Mine spins. I tried using my thumb and it still spins. I'll try a needle nose vice grip. Thanks guys

Which way do you have the tapered part of the nut facing?

Same way it came off, fat side to the trim ring, tapered side out.

"fat side to the trim ring, tapered side out."
Well ... that's your problem

I guess that could be the same question if someone said they couldn't tighten their headlight trim ring nut
