looking for a recommendation for a tail light for 09 FXDF
so Ive had an original tail light that snapped those two stupid little plastic tips, ordered a knock off since ordering an OEM is just ridiculously pricey. now the knock off snapped mid ride, in the same place, those two little plastic tips.
im looking for a recommendation for a tail light that fits the stock 09 FXDF fender, preferably something abit more reinforced...
or is ordering a knockoff and trying to reinforce it with some sort of bracket my only option?
i think its because of my licence plate being bigger than in the US but still, its annoying.
The easiest and cheapest fix is unfortunately to buy a knockoff and just replace it You might be able to re enforce the weak tabs with same washers as I remember, so the load is spread over a larger area than the smaller washer. IMO the OEM is no different in quality than the knockoff. I changed the entire fender , so many reasons to make the change! I added a custom made LED auxiliary brake light plate. If I still had that fender I would buy a knockoff and move on. I MIGHT have one of the OEM tail lights in my parts pile I would sell cheap, but I need to get into my shop to double check. I will PM you you either way later today. Good Luck

hanks man! the OEM ones are made from tougher materials than the knockoffs though, thats for sure.
Im outside of the us so shipping might be a pain in the ***
i might look in to the fender replacement after this whole virus thing blows over.
i might go to a shop over here to make an extended bracket that mounts on to the back of the knockoff to reinforce it.

If you decide to look into a fender change, there are several threads and references in The Forums that have part numbers and pictures etc. Or feel free to pm me on the subject I have some pictures and "hints" I used a 2010 Wide Glide rear fender on my 2009 FXDF. It happened to be an exact paint match so that saved $$
