Default 06 Dyna bogging down when cracking throttle

My fuel injected 06 Dyna with less than 7k miles bogs down and gets sputtery when I open up the throttle. If I open up the throttle slowly and gradually it doesn't do it. It happens in all gears but mostly 2nd and 3rd. I would describe the sputtering as similar to the sound/feeling of running out of fuel but it does it even with a full tank. When I'm already at high speed its fine. At first it did this when I would crank the throttle fast to high rpms but today after filling the tank it got even worse and sensitive even at lower rpms. Every time I would shift into 2nd and open it up It would sputter and sound like it was choking on air and almost dying. It would do the same when I shifted into 3rd and try to give it a burst of gas. Its really bugging me at this point. I just went straight home and parked my bike. I'm running 91 octane fuel.

Sounds like your fuel filter may be clogged or there's a pin hole in the pick up hose.

Just taking a guess based on the year and mileage...

There may not be anything more than the inevitable long-term storage gremlins showing up here--stale gas, clogged injectors, corroded wire connections, etc...

When's the last time it had a full tank run through it all in one day without trouble?

All the best,
Shane

Most people here on the forum swear by using Seafoam in the gas to help clear injectors, You mentioned you use 91 octane but are you using a name brand gas? Such as Shell, Chevron or BP? These are Top Tier gas stations and will have the detergents in the gas needed to keep your injectors clean. Take your gas cap off, turn on the ignition and listen for gas splashing around, if you hear it then there is a possibility of a hole in your fuel line compromising the fuel pressure to the injectors. One more thing if you can check with the dealer ask what year did the injectors were in a recall for the spray size. I think it was 6 degrees to 25 degrees.

This fuel in it hasn't been sitting. I ran an entire tank thru of brand new 91 octane in the last two days. After filling it today with brand new fuel is when it actually got worse. The sputtering was more sensitive to throttle twist. It really started getting choked up when i opened up in 2nd so I'd have to back off and just give it a little bit so I didn't die. Bike runs fine when brought up to speed. I'm using costco gas.

Try to stick to detergent gas. Chevron for example. it's worth it in the long run.

Likes others have said...likely some clogging. youll likely need to experiment around and hunt down those dreaded gremlins. I'd lend u my bell but it's broken..

As already mentioned, it's likely you have a pinhole in the fuel line inside the tank. 7K is not a lot of miles for a clogged filter, but you never know until you check. Same with the air filter, if it's been run in very dirty air it might be time to clean it.

Where should I start?

I always run Chevron and if I can't get that then Shell. Couple years ago thought I'd bask in the cheaper price of Costco gas, ran it in my PU and wife's vehicle for a few tanks and that cheap worthless crud dropped both of them in noticeable power, turned 'em into dogs.

Garbage, garbaggio, los garbigealito, Les Garbs, Trez Garbz, Quadoss Garboze!

I do like their fish sticks though.

If I was a life-long arsonist needing a fix and the only available gas was Costco I'd join the Fire Department!

I'm SBM and I approve this message!

Try pouring 1 oz of Carb/Fuel Injector Cleaner in a full tank of gas. That's a good start. As previously mentioned, get good gas with a detergent and avoid the cheap crap gas. makes a big difference.
