I have a 2010 Wide glide and am installing a new fuel pump assembly. I noticed the purple wire coming off the pump has a slot on the plastic clip to the tank, but I can not figure out where the other piece of the purple wire slides in. Does anyone know where it needs to go? Any help is appreciated.
If it's like mine, then that would be how the pump gets its ground. The pump and everything in there is attached to a black bracket, which is retained to the tank by a couple slots and tabs that are continuous with the tank itself. The terminal on the purple wire clicks into a slot made in the plastic black bracket, which puts it in contact with a bare spot on one of these tabs, completing the ground circuit for the pump. I thought it was pretty neat when I found it.
Pic shows the inside of mine, and where I swiped the little layer of sediment there.
edit: now that I look closer at your pic, they might be different terminals. Mine is more of a wedge/spade, that is a fork.
Yeh I have the one fork in the plastic that goes on the clip in the tank. But, mine has another fork (the one standing up in picture) that I can not figure out where it goes. Unless I'm misunderstanding what you're saying.
