Default Changing tires...anything else?

Hi All.

Looks like I need to change out my tires on my new-to-me 2006 Wide Glide with 18K miles on it. Anything else maintenance-wise and/or anything else I should be thinking about tackling while I have the wheels off? I am open to any and all thoughts since I am just in the beginning stages of thinking about this project.

Thanks!

I'd replace wheel bearings for sure.

And might as well put in some hotter cams, new cam bearings, and S&S quickee pushrods since you'll have the wheels off

While the wheels are off, replace the wheel bearings as well.

You probably will NOT need to change wheel bearings, but check them anyway ... 2000-2007 bearings are different than 08-later and Much Better.

Typically 18k and way beyond is no problem for those

But Thumbs Up on the following:

There you go right there, Multi wouldn't want you to waste your money needlessly and now you have more for the cam stuff

Definitely forget about changing wheel bearings on your 06. My 07 has 102,000 on the clock and still working like new.

The only reason I would change them now is because the bike is new to the OP. You don't know how the previous owner cared for the bike. For all you know they could have used a pressure washer on the wheels to clean them. I agree that you should at least check them though.

When I take the wheels off I give the whole brake system a good check up.
A flush of the brake fluid min.
If you have spokes then a spoke tension check is in order. I use a spoke torque wrench.
Check your rear fender wiring .

I just changed the bearings on my 2007 Street Bob last summer at 75,000 miles. The old ones seemed fine but I put new ones in anyway.

My 2012 Superglide has over 30,000 now so I think I'll change them. Any recommendations for replacement bearings?

Wide Glide has spoke wheels, not cast, so uses tube type tires.
