Idle Issue
I'm hoping to get peoples' thoughts on something. I have an '06 Dyna Wide Glide, fuel injected. I took it out a little while ago and fired her up like normal, and after idling for maybe a minute to 90 seconds it sort of sputtered and I heard a clicking sound, then it sputtered again and then just died. I fired it up again and this time it started doing that sputtering thing where it felt like it was going to die, and I believed it made the click sound again, however this time it didn't die.I gave it some gas and then I figured I would go ahead and just take her out for a ride at least around the neighborhood and and see how it did. It ran fine, so I ended up going around town and then opened it up on the freeway. I stopped in a parking lot and just let it idle and tried to listen and watch, and it idled like a champ, no issues. Rode several more miles toward the house, stopped again in another parking lot, let her idle, and no issues again. So it seems to be a thing when it's cold idling and trying to heat up. I'm not sure how long this has been going on since I usually only fire it up and let it idle for 20-30 seconds while I shut my garage and then I pretty much go. This time I let it idle and warm up thoroughly because I wasn't in any hurry, and this happened.
As a side note, I have noticed even when I have been riding for a while and the bike is at operating temperature that sometime's I'll hit the throttle a bit while in neutral or when I'm holding the clutch in at a light and I'll hear that click and the engine like stops turning over for a second, but then I let pressure off the throttle and it levels out and it's fine. This is rare, but it happens once in a while.
My theory is something with the idle air control or the valve, but I'm not quite mechanically savvy enough to really know. What do you all think? I appreciate the insight.
