fork bag
I use "FRONT FORKS SLIM LINE TOOL BAG BLACK LEATHER DOUBLE STRAP" from La Rosa Design - link below. The fat straps look great on the fat bob, and it kinda matches my saddlebag from a different company, which also has a fat strap. Looks really nice under the dual headlights, too.
There's a few tools in there now, but ultimately I want to find a better spot for that type of dense weight. A little tube around the front mount is what I always imagine trying to do. Stuff gets knocked around quite a lot on the front end, so at a minimum take whatever clangy-clang tools you have and cinch them together in some sort of roll with a strap or they will make a racket.

I use a cheap Harley one, like $40. Stretches out after a few years but still functional, and pretty small. I keep tools and the like in my downtube bag, however the one now on my '00 WG is falling apart. HD doesn't make them any more. Anyone know where to get one?
I have a Willie & Max bag. Been happy with it however it doesn't look like they make the one I have anymore. I carry my registration/insurance, leatherman style multi tool, garage door opener, extra ear plugs, my keys, and an actual knife.
I do a similar thing. Mine rest on my head lamp. The cooling difference up there from below in front of the motor is noticeable. It can also over time wear a bit into the fork tube. Up top not a big deal but down where the slider may over lap can cause some leaking since the chrome surface isn't smooth anymore.

I use my old USMC assault bag. Straps perfectly between my wideglide forks. Holds a lot more than it looks like.
I like to carry a few tools but not many. Allen and torx common sizes side cutters, 7/16-3/4 cheapass wrench set. Pliers, small vice grips. Roll of wire. Couple of screwdrivers, elect butt connect and various elect term ends. Elect tape. Wide roll of gorilla tape. Patch and plug tire kit. Knife, 7/16-3/4 cheapass socket set.
Shelter half and poncho liner.
All the above fits nicely with room left over if packed well.

Made my own. Pretty easy really. I've strapped it to the forks, and also used it as a chin bag. Small ratchet, sockets, screwdrivers, ball end allen set, small crescent, end wrenches... all sized for the critical things I can repair on the side of the road.
