Default 98 FXDWG rear wheel not centred

I have a 98 FXDWG with approx 6k miles.

Fitted a Fatboy rear wheel but its not centered within the rear fender and 11" progressive shocks.

On pulley side cant get a finger between fender and tyre directly above axle, on disc side can get two in. Approx 15-20mm difference. Tyre and turn signal wires touch on pulley side.

Rear axle is square in swing arm using the small holes in it to measure back to the centre of the axle on both sides.

Believe I have the spacers in correctly as per the manual (see pics).

Wheel spins relatively freely with no binding in the caliper.

Have refitted OEM wheel and issue remains.

Bike tracks to the right when riding it.

Do not think there was an issue before so operator error.

Any ideas?

Are you trying to get the wheel in the middle of the swingarm slots? If so the center of that slot is meaningless. The reason why it is slotted and not round is so you can adjust belt tension. Where the axle rides within that slot is just a result of getting the belt to proper tension. It can be influenced by many things including wheel size, tire size, front pulley size, rear pulley size, age of belt, number of teeth in the belt and probably more things I'm not thinking of right now.

Where is your belt riding? if you are centered in your pulleys, you need different spacers, and possibly a pulley spacer then.

Are your short spacers the same size? ... They don't appear to be

Man posting before me can give more in deoth info. Not unusual for the wheel to be off with the center of the fender. Yes it will drive an OCD person crazy. If your axle is aligned and belt riding true with no rub or sign of wear, There is nothing wrong. One of mine is 1/2" off.
I've also done a Fatboy wheel can't remember if I altered spacers and/or shimmed pulley or rotor.

The only thing to check would be your drivetrain alignment.

It's normal for it to be off center

Jepp, Jason is right as far as I know.

I read about this in this forum before buying my '98 WG.
I checked out seven WG '97-'98 before buying the one I now own.

They all had their rear wheel more or less off center when comparing the space between the rear wheel sides and the rear frame outriggers.
However my bike is only beeing ever so little off center.

I check the aligment with a laser.

Off center rear wheel could also be caused by the top motor mount.

Have a look at that top engine mount. The front and rear mounting points that bolt to the heads should be perfectly flat. It’s very easy to check out without removing the gas tank. Just get down and look underneath and you will see it.

There is a instruction in the workshop manual how to adjust the top motor mount.
