Default Thinking about a Heritage Softail

When i get over this Coronavirus crap im thinking of tradeing my 09 Lowrider on a 2010 Heritage Classic. I love the Lowrider but i need a little bit bigger bike for two up riding. Anyone went from a Dyna to a Heritage ? I have several friends who ride and love them . Dont wont the weight of a bagger but need more room than my dyna had.

I have a 2013 Heritage and we've put some serious miles on it riding 2 up. They're great hybrid bikes, in a snap it's a touring bike and a few snaps later a street cruiser.

Had an '04 till I crashed it in '13. Had 160,000+kms on it. Did a 10,000 km trip over 22 days. Very comfortable. Softail has that low rigid look. Need to upgrade passenger pillion. Highly recommended however I did not do the Dyna to Softail transition.

I briefly owned a Softail custom several years ago didnt ride it much and sold it. A couple of months ago rode my friends Heritage and it was nice more room and alot better ride than my lowrider. I know i can upgrade the Suspension on my dyna but getting more room is a different story.

I spent some time on a Softail Deluxe last year, which is basically the same as a Heritage, and personally I thought it felt considerably smaller than my Dyna. Some of that could be adjusted, but the lower seat height and floorboards of the Softail compared to my slightly taller Dyna with forward controls made me feel cramped on it. I'm sure the handlebars had a big effect on that, as I've got 12" apes and the Deluxe had the stock bars.

I can't speak to room for a passenger, however. My wife never rode on the back of it, and it would have been comparing a stock Harley seat to a wide Mustang passenger pillion, so it wouldn't have been a fair comparison anyway.

Forward controls and 12" apes would make a big difference compared to a stock Dyna. I sat on 2014 Low Rider and felt cramped.

My lowrider has mid controls and stock bars . I like the mids but would rather have 14" apes . Just wish it had more room on the passenger seat . My wifes not big but it feels cramped with her on the back .I also want a better ride .

Now I have also been looking since wifey started riding with me, but I'm taller the the average rider, so basically anything under a 17 is un comfortable... The frame change makes a huge difference for me in comfort. And that's just legs.. Need at least 16in bars to be fully comfortable!

But I did ad a 20in sissy bar and it has made it more tolerable for her to be on the back. But since I have started looking at the heritage and kings that front end has grown on me and now I want one! Either on my 01 or have to pick up another bike.

Get a Road King and keep the the Dyna. Life’s too short, enjoy living it to the fullest.

That's a good point. RKs have a touring frame so they are bigger.
