If ya get the custom you won't have to complain about the 'damn speedometer' like the rest of us ( it sticks up and looks dumb) other than that, yeah, test ride 'em all before you decide,,good luck!
Unless you have the '06 and earlier Custom, it has the bar mounted Speedo as well.
I am looking at the new superglide. Looks really good. There was a review on Motorcycle.com that discussed that there was no feel in the front tire when turning. Otherwise it cornered well and took the bumps well. Any thoughts from anyone before I buy?
I have the 07 FXD, love it, handles great, only complaint is the speedo but that just means I have a good reason to buy more stuff and custom it.
I have a 2007 FXDC Super-Glide-Custom. Coming from riding many different sport bikes over many years I can tell you that the super glide handles great for a cruiser/standard. It does not handle any where like a sport bike for sure, but last time I checked this bike was not designed to rip on the twisties. With that said let me tell you thatI wasquite suprised at how well it took corners. It also excells in areas that the sportbikes only dreamed of, torque, balance, style, etc... I love it. For reference the bikes I've had include...2 CBR's 1994 and 1998, an 2003 R6, a 1991 GSXR 400 among others.
I have no complaints with my Super Glide, rides alot better than the Sportster I had. I don't pay muchattention to reviews done by others I prefer to ride and decide myself. Magazinesthat review all types of bike tend to be critical of Harleys and try to compare them to bikes that are not in the same class.
Thanks for the comments. I have been riding a 1992 Sportster. The technology in the old Sportster is nothing to the new FXD bikes. Looking forward to the new bike. The Sportster cost me nearly nothing and rode great for me, but is a little higher and it ran out of gas the last ride. Vibrates quite a bit above 70.
OK, I'm the guy who started this thread. Thank you everyone. Bought the Dyna SuperGlide. Got 07 as suggested. Got a slightly customed one for near a stock price. Happy. Rides well. Front pegs. Rides the curves nicely. No problems.
