I have a 2001FXDL and I'm having problems with my speedo and tack not working... I've already changed the magnetic pick up in the trans... Has anyone had this problem and if so what is the fix?

Check your ignition switch, it may be worn out, corroded, or dirty?

This link to the wiring diagrams at to the MoCo's Service Information Platform might help you checking what's wrong...

Not sure about your tach as mine hasn't worked in years, don't need it.
I replace my speed sensor first don't do that.... It was a PIA.. But that could be the issue? Take it out and clean off the metal shavings. Once I did that speedo worked in neutral and with clutch engaged but stopped when load on bike above 20mph.. Wish I had checked the voltage first..

if you have a voltage meter, check the output going into the battery while it is idling, it should be around 14 if memory serves me correctly.
Mine was at 18... So it was my voltage regulator/rectifier.. I know there are after market ones, but this is one piece I wasn't going after market.
So Moco I went, contact your local dealership and ask them to go on hdnet and ask them to search to see has that part. Most will do shipping for you.

Installation is easy, sort of, trace the wire to the box outside your fuse box undo it, it has a circle connector on it if you cut it off, you can just pull that wire right out, then re route it back thru, but you will have to lift the back of the tank to keep the wire running along the frame. You'll also need some wire ties to sinch it to the frame unless you can open the factory straps? I could not so I used ties.

Man sorry if this makes zero sense... Zero sleep.

Have you checked the 3 wire plug under the seat for corrosion and integrity? Red, White, Black wires. And check the plug for the tach for the same conditions, Orange, Black, Pink wires.

I'd pull the dash off and check the connections on top of the tank for corrosion or looseness.

I've checked all of the connections, everything seems to be good... I checked the voltage with the bike off and it had 13v and while running it had 14v... The only thing I haven't checked is the ignition switch... I'm going to do that Saturday... I'm thinking I need to take it to a pro...

What do the fuse sockets look like, clean? I've seen a lot of corroded fuse socket blades, fuses are good but the socket blades are not.
