My 97 fxd was stolen, police report filed act .I may found it, or at least parts of it, I know the vin should be stamped into the bottom of the jugs on the left side, vin on fram, right side down tube.
are there any other numbers that Harley might have to help in identifying motor, tranny, ect?
Sorry for your bad luck. I had a sporty stolen from me back in the late 1980's so I feel your pain. Looking back, they actually did me a favor as I was only out about 300 bucks on a bike (fully insured). They caught the dirt bag and charges were pressed. The bike was parted out.It had about 8000 miles on the bike when stolen, and I replaced it with the exact same model, but moco made mid year improvements to the bike so I actually got a better bike.
Anyways, I don't think a vin number is on the jugs (cylinders). It is on the engine crankcase left side, the trans right side, and the frame right down tube. Not aware of any other "unique to your bike" numbers.
Remember, a shovel, a tarp, and a bag of lime are helpful if you ever catch the dirtbags.
