What model to get?
I know this has probably been beaten to death, but...
I'm leaning towards a Wideglide, but really like the Lowrider. I like a little more rake in the front, and the wide forks on the WG. The Lowrider has less rake than previous models. I think it went from 32 to 29 degrees. I'm also not sure about the mid-mount pegs.
I guess I like the lower, longer, raked look.
The Softail Deuce seems to have a low seat height and a good rake up front, but I don't really like the rear fender.
Any thoughts? I plan on renting a couple bikes and taking it from there.
Of course, I also need to sell my Ironhead Sportster. That shouldn't be a problem. There are still a lot of guys who like those old Ironheads.
Thanks!

I'm partial to an 06 Super Glide Custom...but that's just me.
Seems to me that your screen name has you locked into getting an 06 Dyna so if you get a Deuce you'll be false advertising.
By the way, midmounts are nothing that can't be changed if so desired. I personally love the mid controls as they provide much more back support for me.

I am 5'10" 180lbs.
My inseam is 32.
I know someone who just bought a wideglide, so maybe he'll let me take a spin. He was torn between a wideglide and lowrider too. He is over 6ft though. I've heard of this alot, even though they seem to be very different bikes.
Thanks for the input! This is a great site!

I rented both model bikes I was interested in before purchasing one. I rode the softtail standard and the wide glide. I am a little taller than you (couple inches) and I found the softtail made my hips hurt and I felt uncomfortable. I rode the wide glide and man it fit me really well. Take a digital camera and take a picture of yourself setting on the bikes and look at them and see if one looks more comfortable on you than the other. It really helped me out by doing that. My legs looked cramped on the softtail standard. And after a short ride I realized they were cramped.Dont purchase the bike I like, Get the one you like. Good luck and I hope this helps.
they're all cool. I love all the dynas. they have that classic kick *** rock n roll vibe to them.
The lowrider is going to be more nimble than a wideglide. But to me the wideglide looks cooler. But you can't go wrong with either.
i would check out the super glide custom too. (my favorite)

Everyone is right the Dyna is where it is at. WG is great for taller guys that want to stretch out. It is a popular choice. Low Rider handles better. I prefer the low rider because the forward controls kill my back and butt. I have better control in slow traffic with the mid mount controls. I guess it depends solely on personal taste. I think riding both before you buy is a great idea.
I'd have to agree with Traveler for the most part. I've got the mid-controls on my 35th and being 5'10" I rather enjoy them in the city. On long trips my legs get a little cramped after a few hours but a nice pair of highway pegs should solve that. But make your choice on what you want and what you find comfy. I'm not much of a fan on the WG's rear fender. The Lowrider's 160mm rear tire fills the fender well and gives it a sexy shape when viewing from directly behind. That's my $.02.
I have a lowrider with the wide glide handlebars, forward controls and left th mid footpegs so I could change my footing around on long rides. You can't go wrong either way. The best mod I ever did to the bike was forward controls.
