Don't know how tall you are. But if yer very tall you should look at the difference in a Wide Glide that is streached out more and more ground clearance if yer tall. Just my personal preference. But Sturgis is a haul from Texas. I would want to be as streached out as much as possible.
Most of my buddy's trailer their bike, If you ride that far yer too tired to ride the hills and see the sites after you git there. And the other person can drive while you sleep. Better make arrangements a year in advance. My buddy's staying 12 miles out of town and staying in his Small Toy hauler.
I even know dudes that has their bikes shipped from the dealer to sturgis.
Have fun whatever you do. And good luck with yer choice of bikes.
Put a 19" sissy bar on yer ride and put a T-bag on it besides the saddlebags if you want more storage.

If you plan on doing that much touring ie. 1900mi get the Road King it's touring bike,..duh.Dynas are nice bikes and you can tour on them but they'll never be as comfortable or have as much quality storage space as a "bagger".And yes I know there is somebody out there selling a kit to put a tour pack on a Dyna but it looks hideos.

.................................................. ...........
My only concern is that I do plan on riding to Sturgis next summer and
the storage capacity of the Road King is inviting.

If I do go with a Fat Bob I will need to find some large capacity saddle bags.

Tony, way back when, 60s-70s, I hit the road for some extended periods.

We didn't have UPS FedEx,
for that matter we didn't even have electric starters.

At any rate I only carried a clean shirt, underwear and sox,
a good sharpfrogsticker, and a pocket full of wrenches.

We did have GreyHound though, and I liked to ship the camping gear, some clothes, etc
ahead to strategically planned points.

This technique can cut down your load significantly.

Or sometimes if I wanted to take along a girlfriend,
there would be no room at all for gear.
So I'd have my wife chase us with the truck.
She always followed real close, almost like havin a trailer.

Plan carefully and I hope you have good luck and a great time.

Attaching a picture below from a trip we took in 1968 thru New Mexico.
