Default 07 wide glide fork length?

anyone know? ....as you can probably figure out what i'm after

i got an '07 bob, and am trying to figure out proper fork length to keep within spec on trail if i were to rake out the triple trees at 3 degrees with a 21 inch wheel

...just doing my research, guys

thanks

thanks, mud....

i figured 34 inches

so with 29 degrees at the neck and with triple trees at 3 degrees, with a 21 inch wheel- you COULD probably use standard wide glide forks at 34 inches giving the '06 and '07 bobs a trail of 3.8 ...probably very safe.... but safe spec is between 4 and 6

so to bring things up to spec, us bob owners -if we wanted to use a 3 degree rake- would have to have at least 35 inch front forks ( i don't if any custom shops make 35 inch or longer 49mm forks)

the only other logical and very good option would be to do what WS6Formula did, which was to simply put on a wide glide front end- the trips on them are at 2 degrees... and with the 34 inch length shocks, you'll get a bit of extra rake, a wider front end, a 21 inch wheel...and will be within spec with a safe trail at 4.4

this works!

Just a question, are you going to lower the rear end? Just asking cause it could affect R/T calculation, prob not much, but...

I'm studying up on this for a winter project too.

hi uweldit,

i won't be lowering the rear end, initially... and as part of the calculation, it doesn't figure in as a factor affecting the rake and trail, per say....but i suppose if it is lowered- which might affect the angle from the center of the rear axle to the top of the forks- it would probably bring the trail closer to spec if you wanted to use 3 degree trees with the 34 inch forks

Just need to be long enough so the front wheel reaches the ground.

Which calculator are you using js??

I'm surprised this setup doesn't fall within acceptable parameters.
