Tossing around the idea of swapping out my stock shocks on my 2014 switchback. I've narrowed it down to legends or fox. Anyone have any feed back of wither brand?
night and day... You can obviously set the preload but can also adjust the compression and rebound. And if for some dumb reason you wanted to get fancy you could rebuild the stacks inside the shock to have it valved the way you want. If I were racing I would do alot more experimenting.
I went with the 13" shock because I wasn't on smooth roads... California roads are the worst. I DIDN'T notice the hight difference.
I have the 13" Revo-A. They squish down to the same sag height as the stockers when I'm on the bike, but when off the bike the tail end sits up about an inch higher. I also went with the standard Axeo fronts, which dropped front about 3/4 of an inch.
The Revo-A were a substantial improvement over the factory shocks as far as comfort. Bike no longer bounces me off the seat and rattles my teeth like it used to when going over big bumps. However, the Axeos were stiff as a board when new. The Axeos have since soften quite a bit after about 5-6,000 miles, but still a little jarring when you hit a sharp bump.
In hind-sight, I kind of wish I went with 12" Revo-As, because the Axeos dropping the front 3/4" affected the rake and trail, so the bike seems to wander a little on the road. It became a little twitchy. Reducing the preload on the rears to drop the sag a little more seems to have helped restore the natural rake and trail a little and bring back some of that riding on rails feel.
I have fox RS1s on my street bob, they ride firm but after a little bit of tuning the make the bike feel alot more planted with spirited riding. But they are spendy.
question I have is can you replace the oem shocks yet keep the cigar tube covers?......I haven't really looked at mine just road it and checked the air.......only have 3000 miles on her for starters

Im not sure if the tube comes off, but I do know progressive makes there 412 in a tube version. But I'm personally not worried about loosing the tube cause I'm trying to get rid of some chrome
