Default 03 compensator

Have a 03 Lowrider and I need to replace the compensator. I've been researching the Man o war and Baker compensators, only problem is they don't make them for the 03's. only 2006 and newer. was wondering what other options there are or what some of you used.

There weren't any issues with early Twin Cam comps. Any aftermarket (Twin Power?) would suffice.
Can I ask what happened to your (normally bulletproof,) early TC compensator?

Its been hard to start when warm. I was riding today and suddenly on decel there were some awful noises coming from the primary. whenever i decelerated it got worse and worse. I was slowing down and it made this really loud and strange screech noise. then all of a sudden it stopped. then it started again as I was close to home but not as bad. I need to open it up and inspect but its just an assumption. The bike was bored out to a 95 inch motor last year

My 2004 is still good at 50k. Just noisy since fingers have a little fret. But it's been that way for 30k. Even the cam tensioners are original.

Probably depends on how you drive it. I have seen a couple spring packs broken. Not the springs, the welded case.

I ride it pretty easy. no beating on it or burn outs and stuff. I did the tensioners at 30,000. They looked good until I pulled the back one out, it was in limits barely, I dropped it about 8 inches onto the work bench by accident and it shattered into pieces. I'm just wondering if the upgraded engine had something to do with it.

Take a look inside before you panic or order parts you won't need lol. Your bike has the manual primary chain adjuster, hopefully it just needs a simple adjustment and you're on your way. Let us know what you find

drained it and pulled the cover. no metal anywhere. I thought for sure with the noises there would be metal in the oil. Checked the torque on the compensator nut and it was good. everything looks normal. Guess I will have to pull off the compensator and check the ramps and internals. whatever was going on was not normal and then to just disappear for no reason has me worried.

An 03 Lowrider don't make enough HP to wear out an early TC comp. 03s had an issue with not enough clamping force on the comp causing the alt rotor splines to shear so you'll want to check that and make sure the stator screws are tight.

Yours like mine has the 10. Spline drive on alternator rotor. Be sure to pull it off and check spine.

Use two hooks from coat hangers to pull it off magnet attraction.
