I need to replace the right hand control on my 2017 dyna street bob. Only problem is that HD OEM is on back order until late August and aftermarket parts are even harder to come by. So my question is can I use the controls from a 2011 Harley Davidson Dyna Wide Glide FXDWG. to replace the controls I have. I don't need exact fitment, mainly what I am looking for is the circuit board that fits behind the button.
Would I be able to use the whole housing on my bike? Like to where it would work properly and not throw a code. OR What year did they switch to the can bus controls so I can keep an eye out for that during my search.
No on the using the whole switch. The BCM will complain if it don't see the switch. Can bus was used in 2012 up. You can try and find a parts match here:
Most are different part numbers but some of it may be due to things like wire length. I'd suspect that any control board out of a Dyna or softail would work back to 2012 but don't know for sure. Closer to your model year, the better the chances..
Find the part number and search it on eBay. There are a few guys that sell used HD parts off wrecked bikes. And at very fair prices.
You sir are an absolute genius! I tried searching for hours but never used the part number. There was exactly 1 for sale, 100 dollars cheaper and 4 months earlier! Thank you for saving my ride season!
