Default IAC issue?

I have a 2007 Super Glide and it’s beginning to give me some issues. Lately, I’ve noticed that at low idle (mainly at stop lights), it’ll die on me. If I’m lucky, it’ll just idle really low and just spudder like it WANTS to die. I took off my air cleaner, and there was a decent amount of oil present (photo). I cleaned that up, and would ride fine; essentially how it should. After about 90-100 miles, same story.

I read online that this could also be a TPS issue. Has anybody else experienced this. And was it truly the TPS?

I should note that this only became a problem when I switched out my forwards to mids. Could it be something as stupid as overfilling the primary slightly?

I bought a rough 2011 FXDF as my first HD and while I had auto repair down, these "rides" are new to me.

as I was cleaning my engine up, I noticed a lot of oil in the air cleaner, throttle body. I read and received alot of info on oil back into the induction system.

Eventually I got an error code on TPS. I removed mine and it was heavily saturated/coated with oil. Here comes the nightmare.... one of the new screws broke off into the throttle body, but I got it fixed.

I purchased a new TPS, set up a catch can system, blocking oil ports back into the induction system and a forum buddy suggested I remove one to two squares of oil (dipstick level).

While my breather filter seems clean, I think the reducing of my engine oil top off 1.5 squares really helped.

hope this helps

Added.... I ended up removing the induction system, to clean it out and replace seals. glad I went in that direction... they were about to fail. Both rubber seals from induction to jugs were completely coated with oil.

I had one acting up and cleaned it and it would last maybe as long as yours until it would affect the idle again. I replaced it and have many miles on the new one without problems.

Replace the IAC. Mine I kept cleaning but changing it cured the issue. No matter what the book says, remove the tank, it's way easier.

Clean the IAC and the problem will go away, for a while. spray up into the little hole where the IAC is located and cycle it a few times by turning the kill switch on and off with the ignition turned on. I do mine every year but eventually will have to replace it.

That’ll do. $50 so it’s worth a shot. Looks like taking the tank off is the easiest way to get to it.

Are you going to spend $50 without cleaning the IAC first?

This is the second time this has happened in 2-3 weeks. I had cleaned both times but that only gets me a tank of gas then it’s doing it again. Plan A was just a clean.

Replace it. I had the same problem for a year and finally replaced it and the stalling is completely gone. The only thing is if you have a tuner you might have to go in and reset the IAC setting in the tuner software.... the old IAC used to have a adjustment up and down of about 10 or 15 degrees. The updated replacement just went in one way without the ability to adjust it. So I just reset the software in the PC5. Fuel Moto was the one who suggested that and was right on the money. This was on an 06 Softail with a power commander 5
