So I ended up with another scooter, after a 4 year break, my health sux. Anyway I got it from a nice gal that let it set for a few years. New battery and fresh gas and away I went. So I cleaned her up to the best of my abilities and noticed the tires are 15 years old and feel a little funky on the road. I'm no hot rod anymore so I would like a comfy set of tires to replace the old Dunflops. Anyone got a tire they like that won't cost me a couple social security checks?
Bottom dollar tire that is still quality is the shinko 777. ~$250 a set
best VALUE Ive found is the Pirelli Night dragon and night dragon Gt rear tire. Not at the top of the price range, but they offer the best mix of mileage and grip from all the tires Ive ran on motorcycles. Used to be able to get a set for less than $300. But with recent price jumps expect $350-370 for a set.

I agree the Shinko 777hd is the best price out there, but be warned, they won’t last very long. They’re good and sticky, but if you like to twist your right hand, that rear will be gone in a couple thousand miles.
After doing the reading, I went with Metzeler, this time the Cruisetecs. as opposed to the Marathons I ran on the Road Glide. I've got 3,000 miles on them, and I can't see the wear yet. And I commute, so who knows when it'll rain and the Cruisetecs are rated one of the best for rain purposes too.
Ive had Shinkos and I liked them. Cruisetecs were not the greatest for me, they felt rather hard. Currently riding on Kenda Cataclysms and they are great. Even cheaper than the Shinkos were. Yeah theyre made by 12 year old Chinese slaves but so is 99% of everything.

if your slowing down like i am, get a set of factory harley dunlops. very good milage.
I stayed with the Harley Dunlop D401 front / K591 rear combo for a while and was getting about 15k front / 8-9k rear out of them. I liked them no complaints.
However, they were tougher to find this time around so I tried the Dunlop Elites in the stock sizes. They seem pretty good so far, but I think I liked the feel of the others better. I hope they wear longer though. Theyre supposed to.
The Shinkos tempted me because of all the good reviews but I just couldnt do it.
I put Commander-III's on in place of the original Scorchers. I like the grip better. I may need more Dyna Beads in the front as I feel it may be a little off balance over 80. Alternately, I may vacuum out the Dyna Beads and go back to HS spin balancing with tape weights. Not sure yet. FWIW, I got just over 10K on the Scorchers so hopefully the C-IIIs will last as long.
