Does anyone know how to disassemble the chrome part of the ignition switch from the plastic part? Trying to powder coat the chrome. Don’t know if it is possible to separate the two. thanks
Don't know if he's still alive, was a member but haven't seen him post in years, he did mine circa '14, here's his FB site I guess (I don't do FB but found it in a search): https://www.facebook.com/The-Powder-Pro-Custom-Powdercoating-248012368229/
Be careful though, doing things like this to your bike will make you a sexual tyrannosaurus, just like me!
Well, as you can see by the link I copied, it's no good. Do a search for "Joe the Powder Pro: 1114 Ballard Rd (1,325.17 mi)
Woodstock, IL, IL 60098 Get Directions
(847) 636-3552
That's the info on the FB site.

Yea. The website is non existent. I left a voicemail message from the phone number on facebook. They might be out of business because their last post on facebook was in 2017. And the email for tim on facebook doesn’t work. Looks like joe got banned from the site too. Doesn’t look good. But what does look good is your bike lol. I like the paint color🤙🏽
No kidding, didn't know that, oh well.
Thanks for the compliment, the trick is I had the gas caps painted to match, that's the real magic! For folks with black paint not much they can do since they can just buy black caps but if you got some paint with a nice color then that's the ticket! Mine's just OEM charcoal pearl but even then makes a world of difference. And for those that have a color and they leave them stock like chrome or stainless whatever.......yawn fest
Cheers!
Well I was able to disassemble the part. Just take a thin screw driver and you are able to lift the back off. Put the screwdriver in the three openings in the back. It should release the back and it should slide up. After taking the back off it reveals a circlip that holds the chrome piece on. Removed the circlip and the two parts are separated. Ended up cleaning the inside out because Harley just slabs a bunch of grease in there. I’ll probably put some dielectric grease in there when I put it back together. Just fyi if anyone was having difficulty trying to disassemble the ignition switches with the closed back.
