RE: Added to my 06 FXDI - mini apes and OEM chrome laced wheels
Hi, I have a 2007 Super Glide Custom and am interested in having mini-apes put on. Did you have the dealer do it? How much for the bars, cables and labor?
RE: Added to my 06 FXDI - mini apes and OEM chrome laced wheels
A forum member installed different apes on his Street Bob and gave me his OEM mini apes and cables at no cost. I did the installation myself. I understand a dealer will quote you a substantial amount of labor to do one of these installs.
Do it yourself. It is pretty straight-forward. There is a great post on here writtem by "BestofIndica" (I think that is his correct name). Do a search and look at his post. He spells his install out step-by-step and included great photos.

The install isn't really all that tough, just time consuming. I did alot of research on this subject and if you got basic mechanical know how and extra time on your hands then it is not as difficult as it may seem. Seems the worst part about all of it is running the wires internally and if your going tall then thats the way to go.
Guess this is why I am waiting till the cold weather hits before I do my change. It's give me something to do when I'm not bitching about getting a ride in because of the snow!
