I found a great deal on a wide glide but with my legs stretched its just not comfortable. I am 5'3" so the struggle is real on every bike. I've seen some 1" forward control reduced reach links but I would like some of your opinions on these relocators. Other seats? Ideas?
Who has actually used them?
Do you have links you can recommend ?
What are your thoughts (other than I'm too damn short, at 48 years old I'm not getting taller)?
I put the reduced reach kit on because the forwards are too low and close to the frame. These lift up 1" and back 1". I didn't need them but they feel a little better for handling and look more like the original shovel WG location. I got the knock off kit for 100 bucks.
There are seats that move you forward too. Both from HD and other brands. Just need to research.
Wide Glide is for taller people, I would recommend you look for a good deal on a Low Rider of the same vintage. After the foot controls, the seat is going to be an issue than the handle bars. Just reality, they built that one for the big guys. Good luck with your search.
Are you sure they are stock? I’m saying this because there was companies that sold extended forward controls for those wide glides. If they are stock than you could go with the kit’s you’ve seen.

I have a newer Dyna, so I don't know if they make the same parts for a 1999 FXDWG.
I have the reduced reach forward controls on my Super Glide, it brought them an inch closer and an inch higher.
It felt like a completely different bike, for the better for me as I am only 5'8"
I bought the HD genuine, but they make them for under $150 as aftermarket pieces.
Thanks for that. I really bought a beautiful bike at a smoking price and to be honest the struggle of being this short on motorcycles has been my entire life. I know the response is always, get a different bike... but in all honesty, I really like the old chopper look of the wide glide. Here are my forward controls, a guy I talked to today seems to think they may be the "extended forward controls"... oh geez, like I need that LOL. Anyway, here is the bike and the controls. At this point, I got such a great deal on the bike I may just buy an inner and outer primary and do the mid change over.
