Default Primary Bolt Depth

I want to switch out my primary hardware with ARP 12pt bolts. The spec from the MoCo says that the shorter bolts are 1/4-20 x 1 3/8" but ARP doesn't make one. Can I safely drop in a 1/ 1/2" bolt? Has anyone done that?

Cut off the 1/8" . Put a thread chaser on, cut the 1/8" off, round the edge on a wheel, take the chaser off to fix the end thread. Or use washers.

Yeah, I suppose that's the best option. I guess we'll see what it takes to cut an ARP bolt.

Do you have a grinding wheel? Thread a nut on the bolt up 1/8". Grind the protrusion off and restore the threads by unscrewing the nut.

I do and I've cut bolts before, just not an ARP "super hardened super bolt", know what I mean? I just need to make sure I have a fresh cutoff wheel and I should be good. It's just a 1/4" bolt anyway so shouldn't be a problem.

Are you sure....??

I have three Twin Cam bikes with ARP 12pt stainless bolt kits from Alloy Boltz...

While I didn't measure the replacement bolts (maybe they sent 1-1/2" bolts???), they supplied bolts that just swapped right out with OEM...

Cool site, but it's hard to tell what the kits are. I don't see a primary set for my '17.

Call those guys, they will fix you up quickly. I called them and got the exact bolts that fit my bike.
