Cool Clutch Cable Cover Assembly

Hey gang,

So I am doing a bar upgrade, and sure enough I snapped off the clutch cable in my old clutch cover when trying to remove it. I attempted using an EZ out but had absolutely no luck. I ended up getting a new OEM clutch cover from HD - my main question is do I need to use any sort of assembly lube or oil when putting the inner and outer ramps and ***** back together in the new clutch release cover?

I obviously drained all the fluid before doing this and will be putting maxima transmission fluid once I am done getting everything wrapped up - Any help is appreciated!!

I've had mine off a few times and once replaced it with an aftermarket cover. Just oil the ramps and ***** with a little of the same oil that you're using for your transmission.

Sounds like the most logical thing to do! Thanks for the quick response amigo.

When I replaced mine, I parked the front/rear tires on a pieces of 1"x 6" boards then put the jiffy stand down. This let the bike lean a little bit more and the transmission oil moved more to the left side of the bike, less dripping/loss of fluid. Before i put the ***** back in the ramp, I put a dab of general-purpose grease in the ramps to hold them in. Just food for thought for the next time or someone else getting ready to do this little mod.

That has been recommended by many techs/shops over the years. It can save time (and frustration) if you have ever had one of those ***** fall out while fitting stuff back together...

I recently read to "put a dab of grease on the ramps" in the install instructions for either an aftermarket ramp, or in the HD Service Manual... I don't remember which...
