I hope you don't mind me asking so many questions, but it is my first Harley and haven't got the workshop manual yet; some day I hope I can help you back (maybe by translating some dear letter to a spanish long black haired flamenco girl...or boy for allI care).
The rear tire can be changed to a 180 instead of the 160 and Harley delivers "a Kit"...I hear you just need the Dunlop radial tire, but want to make sure. The first thing I need is the complete reference shown on the tire wall so I can purchase it here. If it doesn't say Harley Davidson on the rubber...tough, it don't worry me a bit.
Thank you Iwant1,
Lots of literature to read and very informative.
Still, I would like someone who has done the H-D 180 kit swap, to go see the rear tire and write down exactly what it says on the wall of the tire.
I have the T 17 x 4.50 rear rim (Road Winder) and that is where I want to install the 180 tire.
I see that some go for the 2-ply, but my guess is that the idea of fitting a wider tire is to use a radial type so it does not have such a big balloon and avoids ripping all the wire harness under the mudguard
Can anybody who has made the change to the 180 rear wheel read what the 180 rear wheel says on the side wall?
Need to know if it is a radial tire and all other details.
Thanks
Tomorrow I will go hunting for that tire (or tyre as I learned to write it as a kid).
Amazing how this forum and individuals helps out. I have these Road Winders and want to install them ASAP. It was worth getting the wider rear tire since I will still keep the standard ones just in case.
